The difference you make
Cultivating resilience with Squire’s garden centres

At Learning Space, nature is one of our most profound teachers. Thanks to a £250 voucher from the Squire’s Garden Centres ‘Love Where You Live’ programme, our Farncombe Therapeutic Garden has been enriched with vital new resources. This community support helps us provide a safe, natural sanctuary for Surrey youth facing anxiety, isolation, and the challenges of neurodiversity.
This funding provided the raw materials for healing and personal growth:
- Sowing Seeds of Confidence: We purchased plastic pots, Westland bulb planting mix, and a vibrant variety of seeds and bulbs, including sunflowers, carrots, and Dwarf Narcisses. Nurturing a plant from seed to bloom acts as a powerful metaphor for personal development, helping young people build self-worth and resilience.
- Connecting with Wildlife: Gardman wild bird seed and pine cones allow the children to create natural bird feeders. This hands-on activity fosters empathy, responsibility, and a grounding connection to the natural world.
- Calming Sensory Support: For neurodiverse young people who may experience sensory overwhelm, we invested in tactile tools like a Giant Rainbow expanding ball, a kaleidoscope, and a Fiddle Fingers sensory cube. These resources are vital for self-regulation, ensuring the garden remains an inclusive, relaxing space where conversations can flow freely.
By equipping our garden with these physical tools, the team at Squire’s Milford is helping us cultivate the “gardeners of the future”. We are deeply grateful for their partnership in helping local children put down roots, find their calm, and truly grow.
Help Us Keep Growing
If you are inspired by our outdoor therapy work, you can help us reach even more young people. Please consider making a donation to support our Therapeutic Garden Groups so we can continue providing this vital sanctuary for young people.

Thank you for your support
